Mini Blinds

Aluminum mini blinds can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth.  A light cleaning liquid can also be useful. You may want to consider vacuuming them first before wetting them.  Most vacuums come with a brush attachments which works really well on blinds and window treatments in general. Make sure there the slats are all turned downward and gently vacuum. For horizontal blinds vacuum left and right for vertical blinds vacuum up and down.

After vacuuming then you can apply the house cleaning liquid.  Place the cleaner on the a damp rag and the water can be cold or warm. Make sure you never use hot water because  it can damage the blinds.  Place the blinds on the floor and place a towel under the mini blinds.  If your blinds are really dirty fill up your bathtub and soaks the blinds. Use dish washing detergent. Gently wipe down the slants with the cloth or sponge. When you are finishing cleaning them hang them in the bathroom or utility room to left dry. Once the blinds are dry return them to place.

Mini blinds do not need to be given a bath if they are regularly kept clean. A great way to do this is to buy a small feather duster. Make it part of your weekly cleaning routine to dust down all your blinds in your house with the duster. This may seem time consuming and tedious but in the long run it can certainly say you a lot of time and hard labor. You can also buy mini blind specific cleaning product that is extremely mil and therefor has no potential for harming your blinds. You can also use the spray and a sock over your hand to gently wipe the slate clean. This works really well for horizontal and vertical blinds.If the mini blind cords are dirty try a good stain remover but make sure that you do not get the stain remover on the rest of the mini blinds. 

Wood blinds should not be cleaned in water and should not ever be submerged. This will completely destroy them and they will become unusable. Water causes wood blinds to warp and curve. Wood blinds clean up pretty well too just use a cloth with light clean solution on it. Clean with the cloth only after you vacuum. Then once they are completely dusted then you can use non wax furniture polish on them.
