Cellular Blinds Could Be Just What You Need

Cellular blinds are the perfect solution when trying to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter, while also enjoying privacy and light filtering.  With cellular blinds, you see a honeycomb design, which is perfect for all types of lighting needs.  In addition, this type of blind looks beautiful regardless of the room’s decorum.  These blinds are designed to let light in gently but again with 100% privacy.  In addition, you can choose from a light-blocking version of cellular blinds that allows a room to remain dark, perfect for nurseries or people who sleep during the day.

The great thing about cellular shades is that they pull up, stacking high in the window so you can see outside without having your obstruction blocked, as you do with other types of blinds or window treatments.  In addition, cellular blinds come in single, double, or triple cell design.  With this, the more cells there are the more money you would pay but the more cells also means better insulation and blockage from glare.

All three of these types of cellular blinds offer excellent privacy and for size, the cell sizes range from 3/8 to 3/4 inch tall.  Therefore, you would simply choose the honeycomb look that you like best.  Typically, a good rule is that for larger windows, you should go with the larger size cell.  Keep in mind that the larger honeycombs also have more, static air, meaning they serve as a better barrier with the outside, thus they are more energy efficient.

If you have windows in the same room, we suggest you keep to the same size honeycomb design, regardless of the size of window for appearance sake.  Another huge benefit to cellular shades is that they are made from polyester.  Because of this, you can enjoy colorfast shades that will not fade from the heat and light of the sun.  However, the polyester material is also flame retardant, making it a perfect choice for any room of the home, especially children’s rooms.  Then, polyester collects little dust so this type of material is easy to clean.

When choosing cellular blinds, you have a number of options.  However, the two most popular choices include the continuous cord loop and bottom up/top down style.  With the continuous cord loop, you can raise and lower the cellular blinds much easier, which is perfect for heavier blinds on larger windows.  For the bottom up/top down style of cellular blinds are designed so you can lower the top of the shade instead of the bottom.  With this, you have better viewing outside while still getting all the privacy you need.

Another option you might consider for cellular shades is the Dette Duolite, which is the bottom up/top down feature but one that also has a sheer fabric on the top and opaque shade on the bottom.  While you will generally pay more for this third choice, the money on all types of cellular blinds is well spent.
